I was invited to present a paper at the 2022 World Punjabi Conference in Canada, which was a wonderful experience, especially listening to other people as passionate about the future of Punjabiat and Punjabi literature as I am. While I was there I also got the opportunity to visit the Prime Asia Television Head Office in Brampton with some of my fellow conference attendees, Charanjit Singh Batth and Beant Singh Dhaliwal. We first met Nitin Chopra, who is Prime Asia’s Business Head of Eastern Canada.
He welcomed us to the studio and very kindly showed us around the elaborately laid out event recording and relaying studios. Our interviewer, Rajveer Kaur Johal, asked some very insightful questions about the importance of the World Punjabi Conference, coaxed us to share our life’s struggles and experience in order to persevere and succeed in our adopted countries with our younger generations, especially fresh arrivals from Punjab.
Rajveer was very personable and I enjoyed sharing some of my experiences having lived half way around the world, away from Punjab for almost six decades, with poetry being a major connection to Punjab and Punjabiat. Rajveer was familiar with some of my poetry from looking through this site and reading my book, Diva Bale Samundron Paar, so it was nice being able to delve a little further into my poetic and singing journey. Check it all out in this short video above courtesy of Prime Asia Television.
